The All-Party Parliamentary Group on Maternity (APPGM) presents Maternity Service Awards annually. The awards celebrate and recognise the hard work and dedication of maternity services and staff across the UK.

Each year, we hold a summer reception to promote our work. Last year, the Parliamentary under secretary of state for health Anne Milton MP, presented awards to maternity services that were making a difference to families in their area. The 2012 Awards will be presented at the APPG on Maternity Summer Reception at the Terrace Pavillion in the Houses of Parliament on Monday 9th July 2012 or those who are successful.

The Reception gives us the opportunity to highlight areas of good practice around the country and for the winners to be presented with their awards at the House of Commons.

This year, the APPG on Maternity is inviting nominations from NHS services for the following awards:

Practices to promote:
• Health equality and improved outcomes for mothers and babies
• Effective leadership in a multidisciplinary team
• The involvement of service users in the delivery and development of maternity services
• Support for fathers and mothers in postnatal care
• The best service for women with complex medical needs
