The next meeting of the All-Party Paliamentary Group on Maternity will be held jointly with the All-Party Parliamentary Group on HIV and AIDS and will take place on Tuesday, 24th January 2012 in the Wilson Room, Portcullis House in Westminster commencing at 7pm.The discussion will focus on the Prevention of Mother-to-child transmission of HIV and AIDS: How can we stop children being born with HIV?
The Speakers will include:

Dr Mitch Besser, Founding Director, Mothers2mothers

The next meeting of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Maternity will take place on Monday 13th December in Portcullis House. The discussion will focus on answering the questions 'Are Caesarean Section Rates Out Of Control? How do we reduce them?' We are pleased to welcome Dr Shane Duffy, Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, Hannah Sherlock, Chair of the Brighton & Hove Maternity Services Liaison Committee, and co-ordinator of the Brighton & Hove Homebirth Support Group, and Debbie Chippington Derrick of the Association for Improvements in Maternity Services as our speakers.
In March 2011 another meeting will be held to discuss the Health Bill and the impact on Maternity Services.
Each year the APPGM holds a Summer Reception to promote their work. The Reception also provides an opportunity to highlight areas of good practice around the country and reward innovative and outstanding work.
Services throughout England have the chance to nominate themselves for Maternity Services Awards. Winners will be invited along to the Reception to be presented with their Award. The Reception will take place in July 2011 in the Houses of Parliament.
